This slow cooker Chicken Sloppy Joes is easy to prepare and easy on your wallet.


Necessity is the mother of invention.

At least that is what my mama used to tell me. What do you do when you have most of the ingredients to make Sloppy Joes except the meat?


You do like I do and pull out the chicken breasts from the freezer and use those.  You then put them in a slow cooker to cook all day and not warm up your house.

You then come home from a hard day at work and shred some chicken throw them on a bun and there you go, dinner is served without breaking a sweat.

I wish I could say that about work.




4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 medium Spanish onion minced
1 medium green pepper minced optional
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup yellow mustard
1/3 cup molasses

1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon brown sugar


Place the chicken in the bottom of the slow cooker toss the onions and peppers over the top. In a medium bowl combine ketchup, mustard, molasses water and brown sugar. Pour over chicken mixture. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours. Tear chicken into bite size pieces with a fork. Serve between buns or over rice.
